Models to explore
BMW 2 Series
Compare first-generation M2, M2 Competition and later M2 engine/gearbox eras. Focus on M2 versions; a 2 Series M Sport, Convertible or Active Tourer is a different comparison.
The M2 is a way to put a dedicated M coupé at the centre of the purchase without choosing the larger M3/M4 body. Compare the first-generation M2, Competition and later cars by engine era, gearbox and the cabin you prefer.
A reviewed M2 is a specific compact enthusiast coupe choice.
- Two-door M coupé format
- M2 generation and gearbox decisions
Consider: Try rear access and luggage with your normal trips in mind. Keep an ownership allowance for the exact generation and inspect history and modifications before paying for a more desirable version.

BMW 3 Series
Compare the V8-era M3 Coupé/Convertible with later turbocharged saloon/Touring cars. Confirm the exact generation and engine in the advert and service record.
The M3 choice starts with the engine and body you want: a V8-era Coupé or Cabriolet feels like a different purchase from a later turbocharged saloon or Touring. Choose that experience first, then compare condition, gearbox and age.
Reviewed M3 versions have distinct engine and body eras; ordinary 3 Series engines are considered separately in Fast everyday cars.
- V8-era coupé or roof-down appeal
- Later turbocharged saloon and Touring formats
Consider: Two-door access, an opening roof and an estate body solve different daily jobs. Put the right body and a version-specific ownership allowance ahead of a badge or an attractive asking price.

BMW 4 Series
Separate M4 generations, gearbox and fixed or opening roof. Ordinary 4 Series engines with M Sport trim are a separate Fast everyday discussion.
The M4 is worth choosing when you want the M performance-car brief in a coupé or convertible. Decide whether roof-down use is central to the purchase, then compare engine/gearbox era and the cabin you will live with.
The reviewed membership is M4 Coupe/Convertible across the canonical 4 Series identity; ordinary 430d/440i and M Sport trims are separate fast daily-use choices.
- M coupé or convertible choice
- Engine and gearbox eras to compare
Consider: The roof decision affects luggage use and passenger access. Try your normal trips in the actual body, inspect roof operation where applicable, and plan servicing around that generation.

Audi TT
Compare the actual TTS and TT RS engine/gearbox era. Separate Coupé and Roadster; ordinary TT and S line trim do not establish either sporting engine.
Choose a TTS or TT RS when a compact sports-car body is part of the appeal. TTS and the five-cylinder TT RS offer different engine decisions, and the Coupé/Roadster choice decides how many people and how much roof-down use fit the plan.
Choose the TT by roof and passengers first. The Coupé provides a 2+2 layout with occasional rear accommodation, while the Roadster is a two-seater. Both run across three model generations, and TTS/TT RS names identify different performance derivatives. The sports collections can include either body, so the layout must suit your use even when advert seat data is inaccurate.
- TTS or five-cylinder TT RS choice
- Coupé versus two-seat Roadster
Consider: Try the Coupé’s rear accommodation before relying on it, or accept the Roadster’s two-seat brief. Gearbox and roof condition deserve as much attention as the performance badge.

Audi A5
This choice is the 3.0 TFSI S5 Coupé. Cabriolet, Sportback and later diesel S5 versions are separate body/engine research.
The S5 Coupé suits a buyer who wants the V6-era engine in a fixed-roof two-door body. Try the seats, rear access and luggage use before deciding that the coupé shape is the right daily compromise.
The reviewed performance identity is the 3.0 TFSI S5 Coupé; roof-down A5 guidance does not define this choice.
- V6-era S5 Coupé
- Fixed-roof two-door format
Consider: Rear access can matter more than it does in a saloon or Sportback. Give the cabin and your normal luggage a proper trial, and plan ownership around this engine and gearbox.
