Used Cars with Sliding Rear Doors

If rear-door access is the sticking point, compare the later Sharan and Alhambra before defaulting to an SUV. Their sliding rear doors offer a different loading approach in tight spaces; try the opening, sill and seating with your actual passengers.

Only the reviewed Sharan and Alhambra generations qualify; a general MPV label is insufficient.

Models to explore

Volkswagen Sharan

Only the reviewed 2010–2021 generation qualifies; compare the door mechanism and seat layout on each advert.

Choose the later Sharan when the rear sliding-door layout is the main reason you are changing cars.

The 2010-generation Sharan combines sliding rear doors with a large MPV body. It belongs on a shortlist where repeated passenger entry and flexible rows matter more than compact parking. Compare it with an Alhambra and Galaxy using all the seats you need, rather than deciding by the badge.

  • Reviewed later-generation sliding doors
  • Rear seats that fold into the vehicle

Consider: A 4.85m body needs an appropriate parking space. Flat-folding seats are useful with fewer passengers, but they do not solve luggage capacity when all seven places are occupied.

SEAT Alhambra

Only the reviewed 2010–2020 generation qualifies; check powered-door equipment individually.

The later Alhambra gives you a second sliding-door choice to compare at the same budget.

The 2010-generation Alhambra is a people-carrier choice with sliding rear doors. That matters in a tight parking bay: passengers use a doorway without swinging a large rear door into the next space. Its appeal is the access and seating arrangement, rather than pretending a big MPV has a small-car footprint.

  • Reviewed later-generation sliding doors
  • A dedicated people-carrier layout

Consider: Its size still affects manoeuvring and parking, even with sliding doors. Seven passengers and seven people’s luggage must be tested together; folded rear seats conceal that tradeoff.

Why sliding doors change the decision

A rear door that slides alongside the body needs less outward opening space than a hinged door. That can help when placing a child into a seat beside another parked car. It does not establish that the opening, sill or seat height suits every passenger: try the complete access route together.

Keep the generation boundary

Sharan and Alhambra families include earlier hinged-door bodies. This page admits only the reviewed 2010-era replacement generations and applies the stated year and mileage limits as well. A late registration or a model name alone cannot bypass that identity requirement, and unresolved generation data is excluded.

Manual opening and powered doors are separate

Sliding-door construction does not prove that electric operation is fitted. Ask which doors are powered, operate both through a full cycle and inspect the tracks, handles and seals. Check rear-seat folding and luggage space separately; getting people into the car and carrying their bags are related but distinct tasks.

Qualifying adverts

Counts, asking prices and adverts load together from the qualifying inventory. No stock count is assumed before that request succeeds. Availability must be confirmed with the dealer.

How these choices qualify

A deliberately narrow reviewed construction collection: canonical Sharan generation 1268 and Alhambra generation 1417 only, MPV form and at least five recorded seats. Unknown and earlier generations fail. Sliding doors do not imply powered operation. Asking prices £10,000–£20,000; recorded registration year 2012 onwards; recorded mileage at most 80,000. These are disclosed browsing limits, not a condition guarantee. Missing hard facts fail eligibility. Reviewed membership never overrides factual requirements, and exclusions take precedence. All requirements and visitor refinements apply before grouping, counts, representative adverts, price summaries and pagination. Results come from current dealer adverts on Carmigos; check availability with the seller.

Why only two models?

They are the construction-and-generation combinations we have reviewed so far. Other sliding-door models can be nominated through the shared candidate process after their identities and body layouts are reviewed.

Does every match have electric doors or seven seats?

No. Powered operation is an option to verify. Seven seats has its own factual preset; the default requires at least five.

Do these counts describe the entire live market?

No. They count current dealer adverts on Carmigos that meet this page’s rules. Counts and prices reflect your exact refinements, and dealer availability still needs confirmation.
